While the West continues to whip up hysteria about Russia’s imaginary invasion of Ukraine, Kiev continues its preparations, involving the army and the SBU, to attack the DPR and LPR (Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics), in order to force Russia to intervene to protect the population of Donbass.
Far from the fantasies of Western countries and media about the extraordinary build-up of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border, Ukraine continues its preparations for at least bloody provocations, if not an outright attack on the DPR and LPR, in order to force Russia to get involved in the conflict in Donbass.
For example, on 8 February 2022, the LPR People’s Militia announced that it had forced a Ukrainian Leleka 100 drone to land near Kalinovo – Borshchvatoye as it was about to correct artillery fire from the 24th Brigade of the Ukrainian Army.
“Today, in violation of the first point of the package of additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire, which expressly prohibits the use of any drone, the enemy launched a Leleka-100 drone into the area of the locality of Popasnaya in order to carry out reconnaissance and then adjust artillery fire from the positions of the 24th brigade,” said the spokesman of the LPR People’s Militia, Ivan Filiponenko.
He added that the drone was capable of transmitting “real-time video images, determining precise geographic coordinates, transmitting them to the fire control point and recording this information.”
“At the same time, the advance of artillery assets of the 24th brigade to their firing positions and the readiness for firing of a mortar platoon of the 2nd battalion near the village of Novoaleksandrovka were recorded,” Filiponenko said.
But thanks to the use of the Triton M1 electronic warfare system, the LPR People’s Militia managed to forcefully land the Ukrainian drone near the village of Kalinovo-Borshchvatoye.
The photos of the captured drone are quite edifying, and clearly show the neo-Nazi ideology of the Ukrainian soldiers who sent it over the territory of the LPR (the wings of the drone bear the same markings as the planes of Nazi Germany during the Second World War).
The LPR has announced that it is sending all the evidence collected about the drone to the OSCE so that the organisation can react to this violation of the agreements signed by Ukraine.
The LPR People’s Militia also detected the deployment of 122mm BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers near the village of Belogorovka in the Ukrainian army-controlled part of the Donbass. Multiple rocket launchers were also detected by an OSCE drone, which did not see fit to include this information in its daily report.
On the DPR side, journalists from the War Gonzo project reported that 12 BM-30 Smerch 300mm multiple rocket launchers were detected near Mariupol. In view of the long range of these rocket launchers (from 70 to 90 km depending on the ammunition), and the short distance between Marioupol and the Russian border (50 km), the War Gonzo journalists believe that these Smerchs are there to destroy any convoy coming from Russia to help the DPR in the event of an attack from Ukraine. The correction of the fire would be provided by the Turkish Bayraktars drones that Kiev has purchased. They also announced that they had detected the arrival of demining systems on the Ukrainian side on this part of the front.
For its part, the DPR People’s Militia recorded the movement of Ukrainian tanks within 15 km of its positions near Donetsk. A tank company of the 53rd mechanised brigade of the Ukrainian army was recorded near Novotroitskoye, and two tank platoons were discovered near Avdeyevka.
More tanks were spotted near Gorlovka. A tank company of the 95th Airborne Brigade was detected near Novgorodskoye. In the same area the Ukrainian army brought in electronic warfare systems to prevent the OSCE from recording violations of the Minsk agreements with their drones.
Ukrainian psychological operations and information centres are also working hard to feed Ukrainian propaganda. For example, two videos were posted on Ukrainian resources showing soldiers of the People’s Militia allegedly being killed by Ukrainian snipers. But the DPR People’s Militia managed to get hold of the original, unedited video files, and the preparation and resurrection of the killed pseudo People’s Militia soldiers can be seen.

All these preparations have been recorded by the Russian foreign intelligence service (SVR), whose head, Sergei Narychkin, has stated that the aim of all this is to involve Russia in the conflict in Donbass.
“Provocations by the SBU and FAU [Armed Forces of Ukraine- translator’s note] are being prepared on the contact line in the Donbass as well as their “documentation” in the style of the White Helmets fakes in Syria. The contingent of Western media ‘propaganda rapid deployment forces’ has also been multiplied there,” Narychkin said.
According to the head of the SVR, the Ukrainian government only agreed to temporarily withdraw the draft law on the transition period in Donbass in exchange for the organisation of the Normandy Format meeting of political advisers.
“Experts call this document a legal “fig leaf” to hide the intention to seize the territories of the People’s Republics and “clean them up” in the Croatian way. This bill completely eliminates the Minsk agreements,” he stressed.
For Narychkin, the Ukrainian government, which has been actively pushed towards a military adventure, understands what its fate will be after the outbreak of the conflict.
“It is not in the interest of the peoples of Ukraine and Russia that the flames of war break out. The consequences for all, whatever the scenario, will be heavy,” he added.
The head of the SVR stressed that preparations on the Ukrainian side are visible and that all combat-ready units of the Ukrainian army are concentrated on the Donbass frontline. Not to mention the massive transfer of hundreds of tons of military equipment and ammunition from the US, Britain and Canada, the dispatch of NATO special forces advisers and instructors, and the creation of international units of jihadist fighters.
“What is the objective? I think it is to destroy the people’s republics. And all this is to drag Russia into the internal Ukrainian conflict,” he said.
It remains to be hoped that Russia will succeed in pushing the Western bosses of Ukraine to renounce this scenario in the Donbass, otherwise, as Vladimir Putin said during his press conference with Emmanuel Macron in Moscow, “there will be no winners”.
