The first letter containing Anthrax, is sent on the 18 September. New post-mailings of Anthrax spores is sent to several news outlets and Democratic senators – until November 21, 2001.
During the anthrax attack, 5 people died and 15 cases of anthrax poisoning were reported. The perpetrator still remains unknown.
The FBI’s main suspect in the case, Bruce Ivins, was a Senior Biological Weapons Investigator in Fort Detrick. He committed suicide in 2008, shortly before the FBI planned to charge him with the attacks.
